TREATMENT  APPROACH

As a Certified Brain Health Professional trained in Amen Clinic Brain Health Optimization and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), I employ a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help my clients achieve their mental health goals.

EMDR is a powerful psychotherapeutic approach that has been extensively researched and proven beneficial for treating a range of issues, particularly trauma. It enables individuals to process and integrate traumatic memories by targeting the brain's natural healing mechanisms. You can learn more about EMDR and the approaches I use on the Resources page.

In addition to EMDR, I incorporate several other therapeutic techniques customized to meet the unique needs of each client:

  1. Attachment-Based Therapy: This approach emphasizes the importance of early attachment relationships and how they influence current behavior and emotional well-being.

  2. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT works by altering negative thought patterns and behaviors, thus improving emotional regulation and developing better coping strategies.

  3. Culturally Sensitive Therapy: This approach integrates clients' cultural backgrounds into therapy, ensuring respect and relevance in the therapeutic process.

  4. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): A structured approach to treating complex behaviors and emotions, DBT combines mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. More details can be found at the DBT Linehan Board of Certification.

  5. Internal Family Systems (IFS): IFS helps clients understand and heal different "parts" of themselves, fostering self-discovery and compassion. For more information, visit the IFS Institute.

  6. Polyvagal Theory/Somatic Experiencing: These approaches focus on regulating the nervous system and resolving trauma stored in the body. Learn more at the Rhythm of Regulation.

  7. Trauma-Focused Therapy: This approach addresses the profound impacts of trauma, aiming to heal mental, emotional, and physical distress.

THE IMPORTANT OF  HOLISTIC HEALING

I always advocate for a holistic approach to mental health, incorporating complementary techniques such as art, music, writing, exercise, and nutrition. These modalities can significantly enhance the therapeutic process, promoting a well-rounded and enriched healing experience. It is through these methods that we can focus on reparenting, encouraging self-awareness and responsibility for conscious living. With a holistic approach to healing, you can awaken the power to heal and empower yourself.
